How We Write Our Content
Editorial Policy
People use this site when they’re stressed about mice or rats in their home or business. Here’s how we make sure what you read is useful, honest, and accurate.
Written for real people with real problems
Every page on this site starts with the questions people actually ask when they find droppings in the pantry or hear scratching in the wall at night. We write in plain English, explain the “why” behind each step, and try to answer the next question before you have to ask it.
Where our information comes from
- Public health and government sources, such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Minnesota Department of Health, and the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, for health, safety, and licensing information
- University extension programs, such as the University of Minnesota Extension, for rodent biology and prevention
- Practical experience from pest control work in Twin Cities homes and businesses, like where mice usually get into older homes
Accuracy and honesty
- We don’t make up statistics, reviews, or testimonials.
- Price ranges are clearly labeled as estimates.
- Health, legal, and insurance topics are kept general, and we point you to the right professionals.
- We tell you when a do-it-yourself fix is enough, not just when to call.
- We’re open about being a referral service. See our Disclosure.
Local focus
Rodent problems in Minnesota are shaped by our cold winters, older housing, and neighborhood layouts. Our city pages talk about what’s actually different in places like St. Paul, Bloomington, and Fridley, not the same page with the city name swapped.
Reviews and updates
We review our pages regularly and update them when prices, rules, or best practices change. If you spot a mistake, please tell us through our Contact page, and we’ll look into it.
Advertising and compensation
We may be paid when calls are connected to providers. That never changes the facts on our pages. Our job is to give you good information, and the decision of who to hire is always yours.
Norvane Rodent Control is a free referral service. Calls are connected to independent, licensed pest control providers serving the Twin Cities. We do not perform pest control services ourselves. Learn more.
